Low GI diet benefits

Food with a low GI releases energy more slowly which has a number of key benefits:

i) Weight Control: you feel fuller for longer which means you are less likely to snack throughout the day.

ii) Lethargy and Food Cravings: avoiding foods that give you empty highs which are quickly followed by sluggish lows means that you are unlikely to have food cravings and feel tired if you don’t satisfy them.

iii) Blood Sugar Levels: it helps regulate your blood sugar levels so you’ll feel like you have more energy throughout the day.

iv) Diabetes: assists in the long-term management of diabetes.

v) IBS: eating foods low in fat which are easily digested, combined with drinking plenty of fluids greatly improves symptoms associated with IBS.

vi) Better Concentration: when blood sugar levels fall it becomes more difficult to concentrate therefore by regulating blood sugar levels you are more likely to be able to concentrate for longer.

vii) Mood Swings: Research also suggests that this is closely linked with mood swings and in extreme circumstances even depression.
